Calling all armchair foodies, Elisabeth Luard, one of the most entertaining and evocative food writers, will be with us at Mainstreet on Wed 27th July to talk about her enchanting food memoir, Squirrel Pie.
In this book, she recounts anecdotes of the many places she has visited: scouring for snails in Crete, sampling exotic spices in Ethiopia and tasting pampered oysters in Tasmania. Elizabeth’s stories are brought to the table in more than fifty authentic recipes, from Cretan bouboutie and roasted buttered coffee beans, to Anzac biscuits and Sardinian lemon macaroons.
Elisabeth Luard is an award-winning food writer, journalist and broadcaster. Her cookbooks include A Cook’s Year in a Welsh Farmhouse and The Food of Spain and Portugal. She has
written three memoirs, Family Life, Still Life and the bestselling My Life as a Wife.
“Sacrilegious to say it but Elisabeth Luard even beats Elizabeth David. Exquisite writing, wonderful food, and funny too” Prue Leith
