Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Quiz Night
Summer 2017 marks the 20th Anniversary since first publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Rosamund was lucky enough to work at Bloomsbury from the very beginning of the Harry Potter series until the Deathly Hallows in 2007, so this summer has proved a trip down memory lane. As part of their celebrations, Bloomsbury announced that 20 lucky bookshops around the UK would win the right to host a Harry Potter Quiz night, the winners of which would then go forward to a national final to be held in the autumn, we were thrilled to be selected as one of the 20.
Our quiz proved so popular that it sold out within 2 days, we were only sorry not to have more space. Frazer Towers (a familiar face to regulars on the café team when he’s not away at uni) then got into the spirit of things and set about creating his own recipe for Butter Beer
…it proved very popular on the night! Phillippa and Jack also got to work on the stage setting in our beautiful barn, recreating everything from the Marauders Map to Hedwig and Dobby.
The evening proved very competitive, with each round closely fought, the judges had to be very strict and not a little pedantic.
In the end, our very worthy winners, only dropping 3 points over the course of 7 rounds, were the lovely Nicholson family… We’re looking forward to cheering them on in the finals!
