Neil Gaiman
We were very honoured that Neil Gaiman made it down to the Borders as he was in the middle of an international tour (New York, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, St Boswells!) to launch his new novel for children, The Graveyard Book. It’s just been announced that he’s won America’s most prestigious literary prize, the Newbery Medal, for this book. Neil talked to around 60 children at The Mainstreet Trading Company, taking questions and reading from his novel. He put a very nice comment on his blog later that day...
“The shop -- a sort of dream bookshop and small town cafe -- is quite beautiful, and it was a wonderful break in between all the giant events to just chat to some children, answer questions, and, later, have a bowl of butternut squash soup."
