Bookshop Day 2023!
Blog · Posted October 17, 2023
Our annual celebration of all things bookish.
What a busy day! We were so thrilled to have the shop packed with customers on Saturday – it was often ‘standing room only’. We hope everyone enjoyed the buzz, and the free mystery books.
We loved having local author, Leonard Harper Gow with us enthusiastically signing copies of his book, The Clever Red Setter – it’s always lovely when a young reader perfectly matches the book (see below). We’ve got plenty of stock still available so do pop in for a copy.
Like all the best ideas, Bookshop Day was borrowed from our sister trade – the record industry – who have had such remarkable success with Record Store Day. Launched in 2013 and now several years on, it’s clear that customers look forward to our annual celebration of indie bookshops. Thank you to everyone who came out to visit and support us on Saturday, it is always lovely to help old and new faces find the books that they are after.
This nationwide salute to all highstreet bookshops lets us shout about and admire our fellow bookshops and booksellers across the country. We might be biased, but we think that booksellers are some of the best bunch out there and it is truly a joy to be able to have friends as passionate as we are about books in so many communities. Bookshops are for everyone and we cannot wait to celebrate this with you all again next year!
Shout-out to some of our bookshop friends near and far:
