John Niven and Blake Morrison discussed their brilliant memoirs with Terri White on August 25th.

John Niven’s little brother Gary was fearless, popular, stubborn, handsome, hilarious and sometimes terrifying. In 2010, after years of chaotic struggle against the world, he took his own life at the age of 42. O Brother is a blackly comic and heart-breaking examination of the impact of suicide on a family.  John Niven will be in conversation with Blake Morrison whose Two Sisters is the story of his sister and half-sister, and their struggles with addiction.

Do not be put off by the seemingly grim subject matter  – all of life is here, but the exceptional writing is what makes these books sing.
