The No.1 Cheese in our Deli at the moment.
Our Deli team have picked their No.1 cheese of the moment and Tomme de Chambrouze has come out top spot. It is a raw goat’s milk and as the season for it progresses the texture becomes richer. Here is why our team have picked it as their current favourite:

Tomme de Chambrouze is my favourite cheese and something that you can treat yourself with. It is not an everyday cheese and one of the ones I missed most when pregnant. It is an ash covered coats cheese with a contrasting bright white centre which looks stunning on any cheeseboard. It is beautifully fluffy with a mineral quality and rich milky, fresh flavours.

This is a cheese that covers a lot of bases with it’s light, yogurty and lovely citrus floral notes. It is gastronomic in that it would pair well with lots of different staples on a cheeseboard but it would also be a great standalone cheese. I would pair it with either the L’Essentiel est Invisible pour les Yeux from Côtes-du-Rhône or the Picpoul de Pinet Cuvée Prestige for a sharper option.

When it hits that sweet spot and goes melty at the edges, gooey and delicious, it makes me nostalgic for French markets, baguettes, fresh mountain air and sunshine.
Isobel
A goat’s milk tomme produced on the western slopes of the Rhone Alps, which trap the cooler, wetter weather and this introduces the mineral quality to the cheese. Paired with its beautifully fluffy mouth-feel and its fresh and clean acidity, Chambrouze makes a delicious addition to any cheeseboard.
We are very lucky to have some fantastic cheese suppliers for our Deli. Tomme de Chambrouze comes from Mons Cheesemongers and you can read more about them here.
