…lots of great cheeses…and a few glasses of wine!

Surrounded by a stellar line up of the top British farmhouse cheesemakers Bill worked his way through a mountain of cheese at the Neals Yard Open Day;

Jamie’s Townsend cider with Isle of Mull Cheddar; Stichelton cheese in La Tua Pasta; our local Errington cheeses; fresh goats curd, yoghurt and creme fraiche from Neal’s Yard Creamery; Blue cheeses – Devon Blue, Pevensey Blue, Sparkenhoe Blue; new cheeses – Artisan Cheese Award Specialist Cheese Association winner, Poacher ’50’, Phytle sheeps and Blackmount goats cheese with charcuterie from Knepp (re-wilding) Estate and Westcombe Dairy.

Cheddar Worshop

Bill took part in a blind tasting of cheddars from Montgomery’s, Westcombe, Hafod and Poacher.  The workshop explored the impact of different approaches to cheddaring (curd texturing) on flavour and texture.

After all the cheese Bill was glad of a glass or two of wine from Gergovie Wines (low intervention of course). Watch this space for new arrivals on our deli shelves.

Bill said “It is was amazing to be part of a wave of good feeling at the Open Day, to eat and drink brilliant produce, all championed by Neals Yard Dairy!”
