Andrew Douglas-Home talked about his memoir ‘A River Runs Through Me’

On Thurs 12th May Andrew Douglas-Home joined us at Mainstreet to talk about his moving memoir of fishing and life.

Through vivid vignettes and family memories, Andrew spins a homely, yet forthright and dryly witty narrative; both the perfect companion for those who love river fishing and a detailed and informative take on preservation and conservation; looking back at age-old practices and traditions and looking forward to what we must do to secure the future of the Atlantic salmon and their rivers.

A River Runs Through Me is an evocative account of one man’s life spent fishing on arguably the world’s best salmon river, the Tweed; a story of family, tradition, conservation and the Scottish countryside.

‘Andrew Douglas-Home and his family are inseparably identified with the Tweed, perhaps the most glorious river in Britain, in which its salmon contribute mightily to its beauty. No one is better qualified than the author to write about fishing, wildlife and the wondrous flow of sparkling water across the Borders.’
