We are delighted to announce that renowned historian, James Holland, will be with us at Mainstreet on Tues 5th October, talking about his new book, Brothers in Arms.

It took a certain type of courage to serve in a tank in World War Two. Covering thousands of miles and enduring some of the fiercest fighting in Western Europe, The Sherwood Rangers were the first British unit to cross into Germany. Their engagements stretched from the Normandy coast, to the bridges at Eindhoven, the crossing of the Siegfried Line and into the heartland of Nazi Germany. Through compelling eye-witness testimony and James Holland’s expert analysis of the war in the West, Brothers In Arms brings to life, vividly, the final scramble across war-torn Europe.

Praise for James Holland’s previous books:

“Impeccably researched and superbly written.”
The Observer

“Holland is always in command of his narrative, not least because of the breadth of his research…but the weight of his scholarship never oppresses…Holland brings a fresh eye to the ebb and flow of the conflict.”
Literary Review
